Take It Outside
I hit the trail (in the attached photo) six days a week. Doing so provides an opportunity for fresh air and physical exercise and helps me feel refreshed and rejuvenated each time. For me, the added benefit of running or hiking this trail is that it helps me clear my mind when I’ve got a lot of things occupying it, and helps me think of new and creative ideas when my mind is feeling blocked. There’s something about physical exercise in this tranquil setting that is very conducive to my mental health and well-being. This has also been my experience countless times while writing BREAKDOWN and BAD SEED in terms of developing new scenes and ideas for dialog. That’s why I use every opportunity to take it outside!
