“Another Year Over, And a New One Just Begun”
The classic song from John Lennon rings in my head as I work on my “To Do” list. In terms of my writing pursuits, 2012 was a productive year, which I would describe as a series of steps that I hope will lead somewhere fruitful in 2013.
My blog posts have been few and far between in the last while as life outside the world of fiction has kept me busy. But when I reflect on 2012, I am happy with the progress made with my manuscript for The Killer Trail. This was capped off by completing the process of editing.
One of the tasks for 2013 will be to find a publisher and while I remain open to the possibilities provided by traditional publishing, I am equally intrigued by the option of self publishing and releasing KT as an E-book. I am also thrilled with the prospect of commencing work on the next instalment in the Fighting Darkness series and have had a lot of fun running the story line for the second book.
I couldn’t help but think of the two main characters in this series and what they would describe as priorities on their “To Do” list. In a passage in KT, the psychopath Ray Owens casually reveals to Chris Ryder that he has a kill sheet which he refers to as his “Kick the Bucket” list and it is no surprise that Chris sits at the top of Ray’s list. In contrast, protecting his family tops Chris’s priorities. And Chris has become resigned to the fact that doing so will push him to the absolute limit, both in terms of his capability as well as his culpability in employing any and all means to bring Ray to justice.
I look forward to sharing this story of The Killer Trail in the year ahead.
